It is important that such objects are mounted safely, and many have turned to mounting such objects onto the vehicle Windshield mount. Mounting devices for mounting to a vehicle Windscreen mount generally consist of a mounting surface for mounting the object in question connected to a suction mount which then affixes to the window. There are, however, many problems with such an arrangement.
Firstly there is a question as to whether the mounting of the device to the vehicle window is in fact safe, as there is an argument that such mounting is contrary to the highway code. The highway code is unequivocal and states that "windscreens and windows must be kept clean and clear of all obstructions", and thus such mounting devices may be seen as being contrary to this statement.
Another problem is that vehicle windscreens can often be some distance away from the driver with a steep raked angle to the dashboard. Fixing and removal after each journey, by an able bodied person can be difficult and potentially impossible for a physically disabled driver.
Furthermore any required operation of the object mounted on the windscreen is not possible as the object is not within convenient reach of the driver and/or passenger, in the event that the object is not permitted to be operated by the driver.
